New York Photo Festival 2008

While in New York City shooting the Langham Wedding, Stephanie and I were able to catch this year’s New York Photo Festival! It was located in DUMBO where we shot some pre-wedding pictures, and checked it out. Building after building was filled with exhibits, focusing on a broad-range of topics and mediums, lots of books on photojournalism and modern photography, it was wonderful and hard to imagine you wouldn’t be able to find something you liked. Admission was only $20 to all the galleries!
NYPH was sponsored by PowerHouse Books, VII Photo, and Two Trees Management. The New York Photo Festival is a “joint commitment to contemporary photography promises to deliver a dynamic, high-quality event in what is arguably the photographic capital of the world. The festival will celebrate both contemporary photography and the raw, indomitable, creative, and inspirational talents of those who produce this work. Photography, one of the most important media of our lives, is surprisingly uncelebrated, particularly in the United States.”
Most of the photo publishers and photo galleries in DUMBO this weekend have published their art and it is available to browse here via PowerHouse books website:

Would have enjoyed DUMBO and the Photo Festival, looks like a great time, thanks for sharing it with us.
It was very educational, a real artist think tank. We could have spent a week there!
