Lili Our Studio Mascot!
Now, please meet Lili everyone. “Say Hi Lili”...
Lili is an adoptee from here in Kansas City. She’s a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and loves to come with us when we do our Ocean Front Weddings.
[The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel derived its name from King Charles of England. He used these dogs as lap dogs to keep him warm] and just a joyful little thing, she is just 15 pounds or so, and loves affection and a little belly rubbing. She’ll be with us now in the studio so next time you are in, expect a very warm reception from our newest “and cutest” member of our team! (And yes, she loves Scooby snacks and the occasional Cheeto.
)
Have a great day everybody,

Christian the Lion – DVD and Book
Hi Everyone,
I must tell you, I was overwhelmed with the 700 visitors since we posted the video about “Christian”, this remarkably gentle and intelligent lion (while not surprised, it is very touching!). Too, I was surprised how many of you were like me, that had never seen or heard of Christian before. Where have we been?
To be of help, you may want to try and hunt these down. (so far, I have been unsuccessful). They are the DVD entitled, “Christian the Lion“, and the book entitled “A Lion Called Christian”. You can find out more about these in great demand items by following this link.
Happy hunting for these “Born Free” like treasures that you and your family will surely enjoy for decades, granted you can get your hands on one. Let me know how you do in your search.
All the best…

UPDATE: Right after we posted this, our friend Michael Rackstraw, shared this with us. It may be helpful to any who are looking to track down these items. Thanks Michael!
You can get a copy of the DVD, “Christian the Lion at World’s End” from the Born Free Foundation in England. By purchasing the DVD you will be helping them with their animal conservancy programmes. Try their website at http://www.bornfree.org.uk

Christian the Lion
Ok, ok, you know us by now and know that we love cats. Well, this morning, Tuesday, July 22, 2008, on The Today Show, Meredith and David showed the well viewed video Christian the Lion (which most of us have seen multiple times), but it was so nice to see again. I thought you might enjoy watching it again and it bring a little joy to your day today…
It’s ok to cry, no one’s looking.
The Bettels Family
We had the pleasure of taking portraits of this wonderful family on the eleventh of July. We had a really fun time despite the heat and humidity (and some big mosquitoes). The twin 3 year old children, Chaz and Basia, both were great. They were absolutely full of energy with all the activities running around. The whole shoot was out at their beautiful new home near Mulberry, Missouri. The parents, Brent and Piper, were totally up for each and every idea (and had some fantastic ones already) for creating portraits that were of heirloom quality. The Bettels home lended itself to a very natural and minimally posed session so we could capture the real personality of the children as they really are, and (with Tim and a lot of Grandpa and Grandma’s help) we think we accomplished that pretty well.
I think it’s important to invest in some good family portraits every few years. The time just flies too quickly, and children grow up so fast! Thank you Brent and Piper, I had a fun time with you, enjoy this preview of some of your proofs.

"David and Goliath"?
Can you see Stephanie in these shots? It looks like she is taking on this “Goliath” size hot air balloon as it awakens from it’s slumber. Stephanie got right in there for some great shots…
Actually, we were shooting a vow renewal ceremony just south of Kansas City, (this cute couple was celebrating their 50th anniversary!) This was his idea of ‘fun’ them leaving the party in a hot air balloon. You should have seen the look on the faces of all their family and friends. They had all been inside a tent while this balloon was getting ready, and didn’t know about it. So after the meal, they came out to see this colorful balloon filling the sky. They also wondered who was getting in it, surely not this couple who is in their 70′s? Yep. Good for them!
And all the 18 of the grandchildren ran as fast as they could, like Hannah Montana was over there. They couldn’t get to the balloon fast enough. What a fun thing to do. I may have to surprise Stephanie like this one of these days. (Of course, we are still on our honeymoon!)
Here are some shots of the couple leaving the party in the balloon…
We had a cool time shooting this. We also learned a little lesson about dignity, marital integrity, and love. It was a good day!
