Go Big or Don’t Go At All
Here at Moore Photography, we are big believers in wall art, huge canvasses of our images. The bigger the better! In fact, while in New York and Kansas City, a 60″ x 40″ is what we had been ordering for clients for years for their favorite image for over the fireplace (or now that we are here in warm Coastal Carolina photographing weddings, adorning their bedroom, foyer, office conference room or lobby.)
Recently, I ordered some new canvases of some of my family (and our puppies) for our personal studio, and I really wanted them to make a splash. Now, these were really special portraits to me, and I wanted to proudly display them so all my colleagues and friends would ‘Ooh’ and ‘Aah’ when they saw them. When I received them though, while they were beautiful, but I was taken back by how non-striking they were. Had I become too used to the 60′ x 40′? Why did I not have that ‘Wow’ feeling?
Plain and simple – they just were not big enough.
We had gotten use to the one size. So, we learned a good lesson. Like Emiril says, “BAM, it’s time to turn it up a notch”.
Good advice. A mistake I won’t make again.
